BOM 2026- Row by Row
Begins January 2, 2026
The 2026 Block of the Month is a row by row sampler. Each month will introduce a new skill to help you build your quilting skills with a video tutorial and full written directions for the month’s row. Whether you are a beginner looking to learn new techniques or an advanced quilter wanting to brush up on some old skills this is a great BOM option for you.
The program will last 11 months. The first month, January, will be selecting and cutting fabric; the last month, November, will be putting together the quilt together. Each intervening month will be a different row.
Now I am sure you still have some more questions, so here is the FAQ section to hopefully answer as many of those as possible!
1. What size quilt does it make?
If you use the finishing directions as written the quilt finishes at 82” x 94”. But there are a wide range of finishing choices that you will have the option of using including a two smaller sizes 72” x 84”, and 72” x 72”, runners and wall hangings. In January when we discuss choosing colors I will go over these options in more detail.
2. Do I have to use solid fabrics?
No! I am using solid fabrics because they show up better on camera for the tutorials. You can will be able to use whatever fabric you like, and that matches your sense of style, for that matter you don’t have to do all the large rows in different colors you can do them all in the same set of colors if you want something a little calmer. In January I will be going over more of these options.
3. I am a beginner quilter. Could I make this quilt?
Absolutely! This is actually a great quilt for a beginner quilter since it teaches you a wide range of skills and every month is accompanied by a tutorial.
4. I really want to learn all of these new skills but I’m not sure I can really afford to buy all new fabric.
Don’t worry, this quilt can absolutely be made as a scrappy quilt using just or stash or mixing parts of your stash with a few new cuts. In January I will be going over more of these options.
5. Can I still take part if the BOM has already started?
Yes! You can sign up for the BOM through December 31, 2026, if you sign up after the start you will receive all the instructions that have already been released when you sign up.
6. How much does it cost to participate?
There is a one time sign-up fee of $45, which includes full written directions every month along with a filmed tutorial. The tutorials will be available through January 31, 2027.
