Give Yourself a Little Gift
You may or may not know, but April is my birthday month. I typically spend the day one of two ways, either traveling (this tradition actually started when I was a kid), or very low key with birthday cake for breakfast. Now I never get that many questions about the travel tradition, but I always get questions about the annual breakfast. Well this particular cake only gets made once a year, not because it’s difficult, just time consuming, and the nine by thirteen pan disappears very quickly (we’re talking three days). It’s a real treat to begin with, and I like making it even more of a treat by starting the day with a chunk (you really can’t call it a slice). I think there is something to be learned from that - sometimes it’s okay to just give yourself a little gift, whether it’s cake for breakfast or, well, anything else you like. Life is difficult and sometimes we just need a little something to celebrate. Here are some more examples of different little things you can do as a gift to yourself:
-Take a nap (you deserve a rest)
-Make whatever you want to eat for breakfast or dinner (mix it up!)
-Even if you haven’t finished any of the projects you are working on, take a breather from them and start that new one you have been dreaming about
-Get rid of the one UFO that you can’t stand looking at any more (you will be able to breath easier once it is out of your home)
-Change something in your home to help brighten your day (maybe pull out a different quilt for the bed, or print some updated photos for your frames)
-Add your favorite sticker to your sewing machine (this way you get to see it every time you sew)
Choose something to do as a little gift to yourself this week. And as my gift to you I am including a set of wallpapers sized for your phone screen. They are all based on my quilt designs, (including the upcoming Lantern Lights) and I hope one of them will help perk up your phone screen.
